The Marshes of Glynn GI Club

The Marshes of Glynn GI Club was organized in 1951 to serve as a place for African-American veterans of U.S. wars abroad who at the time it was organized were excluded from the VFW and related white only organizations for veterans.  The MoG-GI Club has its roots in  Glynn County Georgia.  Since its inception, the Club has sought to be of service not only to those members of the Gullah-Geechee nation who have served in the U.S. military, but also to advocate for our African American veterans throughout the country, for our access to the benefits we have earned with our service and that the sacrifices borne by our members and families are appropriately recognized.  We have sought to serve not only black veterans who have served in the U.S. military, but also those WWI vetrans who served in the French Service at a time when our own nation was unwilling to arm its own black soldiers serving in combat zones.
